Beverly's interest in photography was re-sparked two years ago, when she received a digital camera from a good friend who felt she should be capturing important moments in her two daughters' lives. It wasn't long before all of her "kid free" weekends were spent shooting pictures; practicing the tips she remembered from her photography days in the 1980's, adding those picked up in the online photography club she belonged to and factoring in her own creativity.
This year, Beverly was the 2nd prize winner in Cobourg's Winter Festival photography contest, and she was also the 1st and 2nd place winner in the Cobourg DBIA photo contest. She is also participating in the 2008 SeeUs Photography Festival.
When I first started shooting, the comment I heard so many times was "Wow, I never would have noticed that!". It's true. There's a lot of beauty in this world that we miss each day in our rush to get from A to B. It has always been a goal of mine to try and capture some of that beauty through my pictures. It is quite humbling that my pictures seem to strike a chord with a lot of people. Yes, there are "rules" when it comes to photography, but at the same time it's fun to challenge those rules - sometimes you end up with a totally amazing shot as a result! There is so much to learn in this craft, but I'm loving every minute of it. This time around, I can see photography in my future...for the rest of my days.
